Often, the phone is not really lost, but simply misplaced. You may have left it at work or in an unusual place at home or even at a friend\u2019s house. Regardless of the situation, you can easily locate your phone with an Android phone locator app or even Google\u2019s own Find My Device feature.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Method_1_How_to_Locate_Android_Using_Find_My_Phone_Service\"><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Method 1: How to Locate Android Using\u00a0 Find My Phone Service<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">This feature that Google introduced a while ago leverages Google Maps and your device\u2019s GPS and Wi-Fi capabilities to help find your phone. At the front end it\u2019s pretty much the same as Apple\u2019s Find My iPhone, although the backend elements are very different.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">To find your own device using this feature, your device should have its location function turned on. It won\u2019t work otherwise. By triangulating the position of your device using your phone\u2019s location data, Google will be able to pinpoint it on the map to a fairly reasonable degree of accuracy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">To use this feature to find your phone, follow the steps below:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> Login to a PC and sign in to the same Google account as the one your phone is signed into.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Go to this URL &#8211; <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/android\/find\">https:\/\/www.google.com\/android\/find<\/a> &#8211; and click on Accept in the popup confirmation pane.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-978\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tunesbro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/find-my-device.png\" alt=\"find my device\" width=\"602\" height=\"421\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tunesbro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/find-my-device.png 602w, https:\/\/www.tunesbro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/find-my-device-300x210.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> You have three options at this point.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">First, you can either make the phone ring continuously for 5 minutes. This is useful when locating the phone within a home or an office, where you are within earshot of the phone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Second, you can choose to secure the device by remotely signing out of your Google account and locking the device. This can be used if you think the phone has been left somewhere by mistake. It will give you time to retrieve your device without anyone else opening it and seeing your personal data in the meantime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Third, if you want to deliberately <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tunesbro.com\/wipe-android-phone-clean-before-selling.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wipe your phone<\/a> so no personal data remains, then erase the device with this feature. You may be required to sign into your Google account again for this particular option. Make sure you <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tunesbro.com\/backup-android-to-pc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have a backup<\/a> of the phone before taking this action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">To find another person\u2019s device, the process is slightly different.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> On your own device, open a new Chrome or other browser tab and have them sign into their Google Account.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> There will be a section called Sign-in and Security. Under that, select \"<strong>Find Your Phone.<\/strong>\"<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> Tap on the name of the lost device in the list that will be shown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">You can now execute the same actions as found in the Find My Device feature to locate, lock or wipe the device.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">To use these services, you need to have Find My Phone activated on the device. One such mobile application is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.prey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prey Anti Theft<\/a>, a free app that lets you protect up to three devices from theft. There are in-app tutorials to show you how to lock a lost phone or make it ring even when it\u2019s on silent mode.
